Governor DeWine's State of the State Address
During the Governor’s State of the State Address, he presented his key priorities for the FY 2026-2027 State Operating Budget to a joint session of the House and Senate. During his remarks, he outlined critical funding initiatives for workforce, K-12 Education, Childcare, Mental Health Services, and more.

 Representative Bird had the honor of ushering Governor DeWine into the House Chamber for his State of the State Address.
Representative Bird Testifies in Education Committee
State Representatives Bird and Justin Pizzulli recently introduced legislation to provide relief to school districts, particularly in rural areas, that have faced increasing College Credit Plus (CCP) expenses since the pandemic.
The bill works to accomplish the following:
- Align rates for online CCP classes with the second-tier rate for CCP classes taken at high schools. Online CCP courses are currently billed at the highest-tier rate per credit hour.
- Encourage textbook cost sharing between colleges and high schools and allow CCP students to use free, open-source materials.
- Promote local CCP enrollment by encouraging students to take CCP courses at their high schools, when available.
“This week, Rep. Justin Pizzulli and I were working on H.B. 62 during Education Committee. This bill 1. Requires a college and a high school share the textbook cost 2. Modifies the charges to a high school for the online courses taken by CCP students 3. Requires colleges to notify the high school if a CCP student drops a course.” - Representative Bird.
