Representative Bird Testifies in Local Government Committee
State Representatives Bird and Newman recently introduced House Bill 113, which updates the law when a community is considering annexation, providing the opportunity for more input from community leaders in these instances.
House Bill 113 grants county commissioners the authority to veto any annexation they determine to not be in the best interest of the county or community, including expedited annexations. Under current law, expedited annexations may not be vetoed by the county commissioners.
Representative Bird testified on House Bill 113 in Local Government Committee this week.
“It’s important that county elected officials like commissioners have the ability to make decisions that are in the best interest of the county,” said Representative Bird.
Representative Bird attended an event supporting the Children's Hunger Alliance earlier this week. The Children’s Hunger Alliance is a statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger.
"It's great to support the Children's Hunger alliance together with my colleagues, Representative Marilyn John, Representative Brian Stewart, and Representative Cindy Abrams."
