OHIO’S OPERATING BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEARS 2026-27
The Ohio House of Representatives is in the midst of the State Operating Budget process. Representative Schmidt, a member of both the Finance and Health committees, has been actively reviewing the Governor’s budget request, along with the funding levels and programs of various state agencies.
“I am glad to be a part of a broad and robust budget process that will examine important aspects of the budget that affect the health and wellbeing of all Ohioans,” said Schmidt. “I believe the committee will have insightful questions and we look forward to hearing from agency leaders.”
Organizations and constituents from the 62nd district that wish to provide input or budget requests can reach out to Schmidt’s office here.
SCHMIDT INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO PROVIDE OHIOANS PROPERTY TAX RELIEF
State Representative Schmidt recently introduced legislation in response to rising property taxes throughout Ohio. House Bill 89 will freeze property taxes at 2022 levels to give the Ohio General Assembly time to find more permanent solutions to property tax increases.
“The goal of this legislation is to offer immediate property tax relief to Ohioans while the legislature works on long-term, all-encompassing reform to Ohio’s property tax system,” said Representative Schmidt.
The legislation awaits consideration by the House Ways and Means Committee.
