Auditor Stinziano Holds 500th Community Hours Meeting

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano announced his 500th Community Hours meeting as an elected officeholder this coming Thursday, April 2nd, a milestone since he first began the commitment on his first day as an elected official in the Hilltop neighborhood.

“I am always appreciative of the opportunity to hear from residents throughout our community and at the Community Hours meetings. I really value the ideas and feedback I get, which helps me serve our great community and understand the issues and concerns of our residents,” Stinziano said.

Since becoming Auditor more than a year ago, he has held weekly Community Hours meetings in every village, city and township in Franklin County.

Several initiatives have come from suggestions at Community Hours, such as short-term rental regulations, increased availability of Naloxone to combat the Opioid crisis, small business development, and improved youth sports concussion protocols. Stinziano has also been able to answer constituent questions about everything from property tax issues to tips for first time homeowners to dog licensing.

Thursday’s Community Hours meeting, which had been planned for Amy’s Doughnuts on the west side, will be held virtually because of ongoing public health concerns.

The virtual Community Hours will still allow Auditor Stinziano to hear from constituents, but also protects everyone’s health in light of the COVID-19 virus outbreak.

“Although my preference is always, across the table, I look forward to continuing to hear from people, whether it’s a meeting out in the neighborhoods or online at my virtual Community Hours meetings,” Stinziano said.

To participate in virtual Community Hours, members of the public can visit Auditor Stinziano’s  facebook for a live stream of the event.

Community Hours will continue to be held online until public health officials advise that physical meetings are safe.  For more information, including times, dates and locations of upcoming Community Hours, visit the office’s website at www.franklincountyauditor.com
