Carroll Presented 2015 Charles B. Jenkins Legacy Award
May 21, 2015, Columbus, Ohio — Franklin County Office on Aging (FCOA) Director, Antonia M. Carroll, was presented the 2015 Charles B. Jenkins Legacy Award by Employment for Seniors this week. This award honors those who advocate for and serve seniors in the Central Ohio community. Carroll is recognized for the significant impact her dedicated service and leadership has had on the quality of life of our Franklin County seniors, and in particular our talented, skilled, experienced senior job seekers.
Employment for Seniors Executive Director, Carol A. Ventresca, Ph.D., states Carroll’s “leadership of the Office on Aging is critical to the successful coordination of the programs and services available to our senior community.” She credits Carroll with increasing senior services over the past 30 years and supporting mature job seekers through collaboration with Employment for Seniors. “The clear vision of FCOA provided direction to sustain services and create new opportunities through successful levy campaigns. Most importantly, FCOA’s overall coordination of programs and services has allowed our senior community to safely and successfully “age in place”,” added Ventresca.
“Director Carroll has helped to shape the Franklin County Office on Aging for more than 30 years, planning and coordinating centralized access to a diverse set of services and programming for seniors throughout Franklin County,” said Franklin County Commissioner Marilyn Brown. “Toni has been instrumental in the passage of the senior service levies since 1993, ensuring that the enhanced level of services and programs that help older adults and their families to live independently will be available for the growing number of seniors in our community for many years to come. I congratulate Toni on her receipt of this outstanding achievement.”
FCOA provides centralized access to diverse programs and individualized services for older adults and their families so they can preserve their independence and quality of life. The agency administers Senior Options, the "one stop shopping" point for information and access to senior services. Senior Options helps maintain independence, ensure safety and improve the quality of life by providing community based services to Franklin County residents, age 60 and older.
