The Division of EMS is requesting Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) to volunteer to participate in test validation for Fire Safety Inspector. The test validation is scheduled to begin in March/April 2017.
If you currently hold a Fire Safety Inspector Instructor or a Fire Instructor certification with a current Fire Safety Inspector certification we need your help!
As a subject-matter expert, you play a key role in evaluating; developing, and validating test items; and anticipating the level of difficulty. The work to complete these projects comes in two phases: validation and development.
During the test-validation process, Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) are invited to review the test items and provide feedback on the difficulty and quality of the test items. This data is collected and analyzed to ensure the validity of the test items.
Members must be willing to provide assistance in obtaining research materials, photographs, and other information needed to produce a finished examination. Meetings will be held as needed to complete the review and approval of the test items.
We are now capable of conducting our test validation through Unified Messaging (online delivery) or if you prefer you can attend personally in our Columbus offices. Each session consist of 6-8 subject matter experts (minimum of 3 SME required).
Each subject matter expert must have access to a computer, IFSTA Fire Inspection and Code Enforcement 8th Edition textbook, and conference calling if attending through Unified Messaging.
Members will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement to maintain the security and integrity of the Division of EMS Testing System. This confidentiality agreement must be on file prior to participation.
