NOTICE: New Ambulance Rules

 

This notice is being provided to give licensed ambulance services ample notice of the changes made to the rules.

 

Licensed ambulance services with an expiration date after the June 15, 2017 effective date will be required to comply with the new rules.

 

The eighteen rules in O.A.C. 4766-2 (Ambulance) were final filed for five year review with the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR) on March 21, 2017.  One rule was rescinded, two rules were rescinded and replaced with new rules, two new rules were filed, and thirteen of the rules were filed as amended rules.  These rules will become effective on June 15, 2017:

Equipment requirements.

4766-2-02 (Amended)

Application for initial or renewal licensure.

4766-2-11 (Amended)

Use of lights and other warning devices.

Temporary and disaster operations.

4766-2-04 (Amended)

Physical facilities

4766-2-13 (Amended)

Staffing compliance.

4766-2-05 (Amended)

Record keeping requirements.

  • Ambulance roadworthiness requirements and equipment and supplies requirements are no longer listed in rule; they are listed on forms referenced in rule 4766-2-08.

 

4766-2-10

  • Rule rescinded. Portions of the rule were moved to the amended rule O.A.C. 4766-2-08.

 

4766-2-09 

  • Periodic Mechanical Safety Inspection by certified mechanic.
  • Maintenance records on Bio-medical and patient care equipment.

 

4766-2-18 

  • Incorporated by reference: lists the location of all documents referenced in this rule.

 

Again, the items highlighted above are not all of the changes made to the ambulance rules.   We strongly recommend reviewing the updated ambulance rules.

The ambulance rules go into effect June 15, 2017.
