21 FORMER CERT Programs in Ohio provided information as to what support would be needed to RESTART a disbanded CERT Program.
Some of the usual suspects made appearances in the replies. As anticipated, "Funding" support made up ~25% of the requested support. Additional support from the State and Federal sponsors accounted for ~33% of the requested support. But almost 50% of the respondents answered "Other". Some selected responses can be seen on the right of the image above. (Respondents were permitted to select more than one response.)
Snippet questions for you to think about:
- Does your Program have the capacity to support a nearby jurisdiction that may be looking for assistance?
- Has your program incorporated some of the "Other" responses into your operations? Has it been successful?
- Have COVID-19 response efforts been a driver for volunteer engagement like the referenced 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina incidents?
- What support have you found critical to SUSTAINING your program, especially in the face of a potential program shut down?

The National CERT Association rolled out its First Issue in Autumn 2021 ~ submit your articles or pitches to newsletter@nationalcert.org to be considered for future issues.
