Feature Grade: 2nd Grade
Second graders seen in these pictures are doing their daily spelling tab-its book. They are hard at work doing their job being a great student.
Did you know that if second graders do their job being a great student they get paid? They do! They get behavior bucks! Listening, following directions, staying on task are all great ways to get paid! The second graders can then buy coupons for fun things like write with a pen, bring a stuffed animal to school, show and tell, or eat lunch with the teacher. Don’t you use your money to do fun things too? We do!
From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard
We have been completing a new MAP fluency test here at Amity this week. If your student has come home and shared that they took a computer test in which they talked into a headset with a microphone, they weren’t telling you stories! This new testing allows us to check student’s fluency, or how fast they read. This was done in the past by a teacher timing a student individually and seeing how far they got in a reading passage. We are now able to do this as a class at the same time, which allows for more instructional time. Just like the previous tests, results are used by teachers to help with student instruction.

In Case You Missed It!
ODE Report Card
The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) annually issues report cards for each Ohio school district and each Ohio school. The report cards look back on the school year and provide information on such areas as students' performance on statewide tests, graduation rates and early literacy rates.
The 2018-19 report card shows that Deer Park Schools has made significant growth and improvements in many areas of the report card. With an overall district grade of a B and an overall Performance grade of an A, we have a lot to celebrate and build upon. We are very pleased with our growth and we want to commend our students and staff for working incredibly hard to move the needle forward. We also realize there are plenty of areas for improvement and we will continue to do our best day in and day out to make steady progress and increase student achievement.
