Taken in October, this aerial view shows crews working on the embankment repair along I-275 East. Crews are now ready to begin pavement reconstruction, requiring a three-week, single-lane closure on the interstate.

Hamilton County (Wednesday, November 26, 2025) – Following an embankment repair project along the hillside adjacent to I-275 East near Five Mile Road, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are ready to reconstruct the pavement on I-275. However, in order to return traffic to its previous travel lanes, pavement restoration will require a three-week, single-lane closure on the interstate.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday, November 30, crews from Sunesis Construction Company will close the outside (right) lane of eastbound I-275 between the U.S. 52 and Five Mile Road interchanges, reducing the interstate to one, 11-foot lane within the work zone. In addition, the on-ramp from U.S. 52 to I-275 East will be closed.

The lane and ramp closures will be in effect through Monday, December 22, and although traffic will be maintained on I-275, motorists are advised to expect delays, especially during peak morning and evening travel times. Motorists from westbound U.S. 52 to I-275 East may detour by way of the Kellogg Avenue interchange.

Prior to starting work, though, the contractor will need to protect the work zone by moving the barrier wall that is along the outside shoulder to close the outside travel lane, and this will require a temporary, full closure of eastbound I-275.

At midnight (12:01 a.m.) Monday, December 1, I-275 East will be closed at the U.S. 52 interchange, and the closure will be in effect until approximately 4 a.m. Monday. Motorists will need to seek alternate routes; however, suggested detours for thru-traffic include U.S. 52, S.R. 132 and S.R. 32 to I-275 or by way of I-471 to either U.S. 50, S.R. 125 and S.R. 32 or to I-71 and I-275.

Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution when traveling through the work zone and to allow additional travel time. For ongoing traffic, construction and weather-related information throughout the state, please visit www.OHGO.com.
