I-70 closed until further notice after bridge hit

The westbound lanes are closed at I-71 in downtown Columbus

COLUMBUS - The westbound lanes of I-70 remain closed in downtown Columbus after a semi hauling a large excavator struck the 4th Street overpass Saturday afternoon. The impact caused significant structural damage to at least one beam supporting the deck of the bridge.

Other closures due to the crash include the ramp from I-71 southbound to I-70 westbound and 4th Street at I-70.

During the closure, westbound I-70 traffic is being detoured north on I-71 and west on I-670.

A contractor, Kokosing Construction, is on scene and will be making emergency repairs. A timeline for completion has not yet been determined.
