Tower City Bridge Work to Continue in Downtown Cleveland

W. Huron Rd. traffic restrictions

CLEVELAND (Thursday, February 7, 2019) - Beginning Wednesday, February 20, bridge work will continue on structures along W. Huron Road, W. Prospect Avenue, W. 3rd Street and W. 2nd Street in Downtown Cleveland.

W. Huron Rd. Tower City

 

Work will take place through October 2019 and the following restrictions will be in place:

  • Huron Road: Closed to westbound traffic during construction. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Ontario St. to W. Prospect Ave. to W. Superior Ave. to access W. Huron Rd. No street parking. Eastbound traffic will be maintained
  • 6th Street: Traffic will be maintained. No right turn onto W. Huron Rd.
  • 3rd Street: Traffic will be maintained.
  • 2nd Street: Traffic will be maintained. No right turn onto W. Huron Rd.

Work includes bridge joint replacement, bridge deck resurfacing and sealing and sidewalk replacement. You can learn more about the 2019 work here. 

Throughout the duration of the project there will be necessary closures and restrictions in the area. Sidewalks will be open to pedestrians outside of the construction zones.

Work on W. Prospect Ave. will be completed in 2020.

The project was awarded to Great Lakes Construction company for $13,990,873 and work is expected to be complete in fall 2020.

All work is weather permitting and dates may change. Updates will be sent out ahead of each phase change.
