The sun is shining on DAS in February! I am looking forward to the many exciting and challenging projects we have ahead of us at DAS in 2024. We’re already working on several projects, including several new Perspectives Series events beginning later this month, planning for an all-team meeting this spring, enhancing our presence at the 2024 Ohio State Fair, and much more. That much more includes a healthy capital budget request to continue making needed investments to state buildings. I look forward to working with you to continue powering the engine of state government for our agency partners and fellow Ohioans.
Thanks for all you do. Let’s stay focused and seize the moment!

State Government News
Governor releases plan to reduce suicides
Governor Mike DeWine recently announced the 2024-2026 Suicide Prevention Plan for the state, reinforcing a commitment to eliminating obstacles for families and individuals grappling with suicide.
“The heartbreak of losing a family member to suicide is a pain that cuts deep, leaving behind a void that words can't fully capture,” said Governor DeWine. “This plan will bring about a system-wide commitment to reduce suicides and encourage communities to work collectively to foster understanding and destigmatize mental health challenges.”
The plan aims to promote life-saving strategies statewide. The governor’s RecoveryOhio initiative partnered with the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation to spearhead the development of this comprehensive document, incorporating input from more than 30 private and public organizations.

DAS Spotlight
Team DAS pledges nearly $53,000 to CCC
Thank you Team DAS for generously donating $52,928 toward the 2023 State of Ohio Combined Charitable Campaign (CCC)!
The final results are in – DAS pledges contributed to the campaign total of $2,152,274. The funds will help the charitable work of more than 900 charities participating in the CCC.

Asset verification deadline Feb. 16
It’s time to verify your DAS-assigned assets and equipment using the Personal Asset Verification Entry (PAVE) form.
Per the email sent Feb. 1 from the DAS Office of Employee Services, any DAS employee or contractor who has been assigned agency-owned equipment is considered the custodian of that asset/equipment and is required to provide an accounting of the asset/equipment. This includes equipment assigned for daily use, such as desktops, laptops, mobile phones, hotspots, printers, ergonomic equipment, etc.
All DAS employees and applicable contractors are required to complete the PAVE form on or before Feb. 16. (Please use your State User ID@id.ohio.gov email address and password.)

Learning and Talent Development announces quarterly offerings
Our State Human Resources Division’s Learning and Talent Development team is pleased to announce that the 2024 first quarter schedule for professional development courses is available on myOhio.gov.
These courses are geared to help state employees develop their skills and competencies. Users can enroll in individual courses from the Training and Development Opportunities page by clicking the Enroll button next to the course.
In addition, employees can search for other training and development opportunities within Ohio Learn by accessing the Training Catalog link at the top of the page and clicking the Statewide Training by Topic link. Courses in the statewide catalog are grouped by areas of interest.

February Diversity/Civil Rights Calendar
February was officially designated for the celebration of Black history and the contributions of African Americans by President Gerald Ford in 1976. He called upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”
At DAS, we’re excited to share opportunities to do just that! In central Ohio, there are several events, exhibitions, and activities for all ages while you’re out and about this month. The Ohio History Center is among the venues offering a full slate of activities for the month.
Speaking of the Ohio History Center, they will be the featured guest during this month’s DAS Perspectives Series on Feb. 27 when they will share more about Ohio’s Historical Underground Railroad Trail. A save the date is attached in this month’s Diversity/Civil Rights Movement Calendar on the DAS intranet along with more Black History Month activities.
