From Director Madden:
During our next Perspectives Series event at noon Wednesday, we’ll focus on Ohio’s commitment to literacy and the success of our children and youth. In recognition of National Family Literacy Month, we will be joined by Kara Wente, Director of the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) created by Governor DeWine in his biennial budget.
A strong start in reading is so important and early literacy is a priority for the DeWine administration. Governor DeWine signed the Governor’s Literacy Challenge Executive Order earlier this year and First Lady Fran DeWine is also a strong proponent of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
DAS has had an important role in supporting the work of DCY and I’ve really been looking forward to this conversation with Director Wente.
Please join the discussion Wednesday in the Rhodes Tower lobby hearing room!

Find funds to beat Michigan
Throughout November, the Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Unclaimed Funds is challenging the State of Michigan Unclaimed Property program to see which state's residents can find and claim the most forgotten funds.
Gov. Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine have a special message on how you can help beat that state up north.
Visit the Ohio Department of Commerce for the three easy steps to claim your funds.
2023 Holiday Meals Campaign kicks off Wednesday
The State of Ohio Holiday Meals Campaign gives state employees the opportunity to donate collectively to the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Every $1 donated provides $4.89 in groceries.
The Mid-Ohio Food Collective aims to close the 144 million meal-gap in the region by providing over 170,000 meals a day for our neighbors in central and eastern Ohio, which encompasses 20 counties and 10,000 square miles.
Donate here to the State of Ohio’s Holiday Meals Campaign. When asked to “Please select your team,” scroll to “Ohio Dept. of Administrative Services.”
The campaign runs Nov. 15 through Dec. 16.
Thank you for helping Team Ohio raise critically needed funds to help feed those in need this holiday season!

1967 dredge collects top dollar for FY24
A 1967 Conventional Dragon 400 Ellicott dredge is now the most expensive item our State Surplus Services program has sold this fiscal year. The dredge, which belonged to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (DNR), sold via online auction to a Nelsonville paving company on Oct. 31 for $61,000. After fees, DNR will receive a $51,850 refund.
The previous title of most expensive item sold this fiscal year belonged to a DNR fish hatchery, which sold for $35,500.
The dredge was used at Hueston Woods State Park to move materials and restore habitats.
