On Monday, June 30, Columbus City Council will consider a resolution of support for the next steps in Zone In Columbus - the City's initiative to modernize its more than 70-year-old zoning code.
The resolution outlines key priorities that will guide future zoning code and map updates, helping expand economic and housing opportunities for all Columbus residents, support job growth, and foster prosperity citywide to meet our current and future needs, values, and aspirations.
The resolution expresses support for zoning updates that will:
-
Expand economic and housing opportunities
-
Modernize zoning regulations to encourage investment and support job growth
-
Connect residents to transit, jobs, and services
-
Support small businesses and employment areas
-
Promote clear, high-quality development standards
These priorities will inform the next set of zoning updates for areas ideal for mixed-use development, industrial and warehouse operations, and business and institutional campuses such as hospitals, academic institutions, and office parks.
