There is mounting evidence that marijuana may harm pregnant women and their babies.
The Center for Disease Control and other major medical organizations such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and American Academy of Pediatrics recommend against marijuana use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding – whether that’s through smoking, vaping or applying creams or lotions to the skin.
In some states, women can — and have – faced criminal prosecution for using marijuana during pregnancy.
There are many different risks when marijuana is used during pregnancy. The chemicals in marijuana, especially tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), can have negative impacts on the health of a mother and the child she is carrying.
Join us Thursday, February 16 from 11:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m. for our first Lunch & Learn of the year, as we talk with our medical experts about the effects of marijuana during pregnancy.

Got a few hours to spare? We could use a few helping hands on Saturday, February 11.
CelebrateOne will soon be delivering 3,000 sleep sacks to area hospitals. Sleep sacks promote safe sleep by keeping a baby warm without the need for a blanket in the crib.
We have important information about safe sleep practices that we want to share with our new moms, along with the sleep sacks. Can you help us insert the informational flyers into the sleep sacks this Saturday? To volunteer, please sign up here. Lunch will be provided.
We are grateful to all of our volunteers who join us in our mission to reduce infant mortality in our community.

We are grateful to Psi Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for sponsoring a diaper drive and donating the diapers to CelebrateOne.
“Some families must make choices that no one should have to make, transportation or gas versus other critical needs like diapers. This donation will help many families and we are grateful," said Maureen Stapleton, executive director, CelebrateOne

Name: Shana Thomas
Title: Community Health Worker
When did you start working at CelebrateOne? November 2021
Tell us about your job? My job is going out into the community, locating families with infants under the age of one and connecting them with available resources, such as health care, daycare facilities and books to read to their child.
What do you find challenging about your job? The most challenging part is finding new moms. It’s not always easy to find families with newborns but I continue to pound the pavement because I know CelebrateOne has so much to offer them.
What is the most rewarding aspect? Building relationships with families and helping them lighten the load with the resources that available right here in our community.
What have you learned since you have been working at CelebrateOne? To be open to change, be mindful of the people I serve in the community and intentional in what I want to achieve
Since you help moms who have a baby under the age of 1, what do you think is most important for them to know? We just can’t say it enough, families should practice the ABCs of safe sleep when putting their baby to bed -– Alone, on their Back and in an empty Crib.
Personally or professionally, is there something you want to accomplish during 2023? This year, I would like to learn more about myself and who I am.
