Columbus Climate Action Plan Released

Mayor Ginther at the Climate Action Plan release

The finalized Columbus Climate Action Plan has been released! It was developed with the input of the environmental community, residents, the business community and many others. It has a goal to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2050 – ensuring our community is doing its fair share to combat climate change and limit global temperature rise. Just as critical, the Plan puts in place equitable strategies for the City of Columbus to adapt and build local resilience in response to a changing climate. As Columbus faces more frequent hotter days, and more intense rain events, we must be prepared to ensure the vitality, livability, and prosperity of our community.

GreenSpot will play a critical role in section 1.1 of the Plan: “Empowering a Community of Climate Leaders.” Over the next several months and years GreenSpot will work with residents, business leaders, academia, government, and nonprofits to increase climate change awareness, solutions, and making sure all neighborhoods benefit.

The five sections of the Columbus Climate Action Plan outline 13 strategies that have 32 quantifiable actions. Check it out here!
