In honor of Black History Month, CelebrateOne and The Divine 9 came together to help pregnant and new moms in the Columbus and surrounding neighborhoods. Since 2015, Divine 9 organizations have collaborated and partnered with CelebrateOne in meaningful ways to support families in Columbus and Franklin County to ensure our most vulnerable citizens celebrate their first birthday.
We want to thank each and every of The Divine 9 organizations for getting together to raise over $10,000.00 for CelebrateOne. And an extra THANK YOU goes to Alpha Kappa Alpha for raising the most dollars and pushing hard to get us to the finish line. CelebrateOne would not be able to reach as many moms and families are we do without the support from you.

In partnership with Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA), CelebrateOne will be participating in the fourth annual national Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) campaign, founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance.
It is a week of awareness, activism, and community building intended to deepen the national conversation about Black maternal health. It is also intended to amplify community-driven policy, research, and care solutions and provide a national platform for Black-led entities and efforts on maternal health, birth and reproductive justice.
Black Maternal Health Week will take place April 11 –17, 2021, within the month of National Minority Health Month – a month-long initiative to advance health equity across the country on behalf of all racial and ethnic minorities. We are joining dozens of global organizations who are fighting to end maternal mortality globally in advocating the United Nations recognize April 11th as the International Day for Maternal Health and Rights.
The campaign and activities for Black Maternal Health Week serve to amplify the voices of Black mamas and center the values and traditions of the reproductive and birth justice movements. Activities during BMHW are rooted in human rights, reproductive justice, and birth justice frameworks.

The local organization named ROOTT (Restoring Our Own through Transformation) is a Black-led reproductive justice organization dedicated to collectively restoring the well-being of Black families.
One of the main services they support is through perinatal doula services.
Typically, a doula provides emotional, physical and social support for pregnant woman while they are giving birth or postpartum. ROOTT's doulas are not only there for the birth but throughout the entire prenatal and extended postpartum period. Check out this recent story about our partner, ROOTT.
