From the Office of Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini
Dear neighbors,
I am thrilled to bring you the latest edition of our Around Town newsletter, packed with exciting updates and events that reflect the vibrant spirit of our community.
First and foremost, mark your calendars for the New Hackensack Fire Company's 75th Anniversary Celebration on June 7, 8, and 9. Join us as we come together to commemorate this milestone and celebrate the rich history and bright future of our beloved volunteer fire company.
But the festivities don't stop there! Don't miss our annual Festival at the Falls on Saturday, June 1, where you can immerse yourself in live music, food, specials in local shops, and fun filled activities alongside friends and neighbors in the downtown streets of the Village of Wappingers Falls!
As safety and infrastructure enhancements remain a top priority, we made great strides in this year's paving and reconstruction of 10 roads across town, ensuring safer and smoother journeys for all. As of today, paving has completed ahead of schedule and under budget too! Special thanks to our Highway Department in ensuring this project's success. I'm also pleased to report progress on addressing the dangerous flooding on Route 9D in Chelsea. Thanks to this administration's advocacy, the New York State Department of Transportation is listening to our requests and undertaking necessary construction to install new drainage over the course of this week and next.
Speaking of inclusivity, I'm delighted to share that the expansion of the surfacing for the Challenger baseball program is nearly complete. Marking an end to the nearly two-decade-old Inspiration Field project at Robinson Lane Baseball Complex. We also just completed the paving of the roadway and parking areas at Rockingham Park Soccer Complex and the installation of a new swing set at Spook Hill Park. These milestones underscore our commitment to providing fun and accessible recreational opportunities for everyone in our community.
In exciting news on the employment front, the Town is hiring for two positions in our Parks & Recreation Department. If you're passionate about enhancing our community spaces, working with seniors, youth, and enhancing the quality of life for our families; we encourage you to explore these opportunities.
Last but certainly not least, let's extend a warm welcome to the newest additions to our business community: Fun Max Adventure Park and Salt Boutique Labs. Their presence enriches our town's economic landscape and adds to the diverse tapestry of offerings available to residents.
As always, I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve as your Town Supervisor. Your feedback, engagement, and support are integral to our continued success as a community. Here's to a summer filled with celebration, progress, and community spirit!
See you around Town!
Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini
P.S. – I recently visited the “World’s Tiniest Wind Turbine” exhibit. Honestly, not a big fan.
New Hackensack Fire Company
75th Anniversary Celebration
As you may have heard by now, New Hackensack Fire Company is turning 75 this year. In celebration of this momentous event, we will be hosting the Dutchess County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Convention & Parade. All of this will take place between June 7-9th, 2024.
The biggest impact will be felt on June 8th, between the hours of 1:30pm and 4:30pm. This will be when our celebration parade is taking place.
Our parade route will begin at the western entrance of the “Laerdal” parking lot, or 155 Myers Corners Road, reaching its end at the New Hackensack Fire station, 217 Myers Corners Road. During this time, Myers Corners will be closed to traffic from Kent Road to Degarmo Hills Road. All of these intersections will be controlled by a fire policeman to ensure everyone’s safety during this time. (See Full Details Below)
Since the parade will be passing near you, you can think of this as a “save the date” for our celebration. We are proud to be celebrating this milestone within our community. You are more than welcome, in fact encouraged, to line up along the parade route and watch as fire companies and bands from across the region make their way through to celebrate with us.
We are sending this message out to you now, so that you are aware of the coming event. We will also send a reminder before the parade date to confirm our intentions. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you and your family during this time.
If you have any questions, concerns or comments please reach out to us NKFDParade@nkfd.org
Sincerely, Raymond Valentin 75th Parade Chairman
Philip Scarano IV 75th Parade Public Relations
