Protect Yourself From Mosquitoes. Here's How... |
Mosquitoes can be much more than just an annoyance. They can also be transmitters of several deadly diseases such as West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). Dress for Success: When venturing outdoors, especially from dusk until dawn when mosquitoes are most prevalent, protect yourself from mosquito bites by wearing long pants, long sleeved shirts, socks and a hat, and encourage others to do the same. Insect Repellents: If you decide to apply an insect repellent, take caution! Learn more about using and choosing insect repellents. AND always read the product label. Housekeeping: Take efforts to reduce the number of mosquitoes around the house. Hiring a Professional? Search NYSPAD. All pesticide applicators and businesses offering, advertising or providing the services of commercial application of pesticides for hire must register with the DEC. Buzzing for more information?
