Fostering Climate Resiliency in Your Community

Cornell Cooperative Extension is hosting a free forum where communities can learn about the Climate Smart Communities Grant Program and the technical assistance available through related New York State programs. The forum will feature municipal leaders who will provide insights into how their community is leveraging state resources to adapt to climate change and extreme weather. Presentations will also be given by representatives from DEC Office of Climate Change and the Hudson River Estuary Program. 

Climate Smart Communities Grants

The Climate Smart Communities Grant Program is a competitive 50/50 matching grant program for municipalities to conduct climate change adaptation or mitigation implementation projects, or to undertake eligible actions as part of a strategy to become a Certified Climate Smart Community. Eligible implementation projects include those related to flood risk reduction. Applications are due by 4:00 PM on July 28, 2017.

There is no charge to attend the forum. Light refreshments will be provided.

This forum is part of the Hudson Estuary Watershed Resiliency Project, a program of Cornell University and Cornell Cooperative Extension in partnership with the NYS Water Resource Institute and DEC Hudson River Estuary Program, with support from the NYS Environmental Protection Fund.
