Tributary Restoration and Resiliency RFA, Deadline November 13, 2015
Perched culvert creates stream barrierNYS Department of Environmental Conservation is now accepting applications for projects that help communities in the Hudson River estuary watershed replace or right-size culverts and bridges, or remove dams to better cope with flood events, protect water quality, and restore aquatic habitat connectivity for migratory fish and other species of concern in tributary streams of the estuary. To be eligible for this funding, projects must conserve and restore aquatic habitat connectivity for Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) found in the tributary streams of the Hudson River estuary watershed, particularly river herring, American eel, and brook trout.

Approximately $630,000 is available for these projects. The grants are provided through the Environmental Protection Fund, the Natural Resource Damages Fund, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's State Wildlife Grant and are administered under DEC’s Hudson River Estuary Program. Applications are due November 13 at 3 p.m.

The Request for Applications (RFA) for Tributary Restoration and Resiliency is available on the New York State Grants Gateway. For more information please visit the DEC web page Grants Program for the Hudson River Estuary.

Request for Proposals for Design of Sustainable Shorelines at Nutten Hook
The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC), in partnership with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (NYS DEC) Hudson River Estuary Program and the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve are soliciting proposals to design a Sustainable Shorelines on the Hudson River in the town of Stuyvesant, NY.

The goal of this project is to design ecologically-enhanced, engineered shoreline treatment(s) that resist erosion, enhance the recreational use of the site by the public, and improve the habitat value of the site for fish and wildlife species of the Hudson River Estuary. The project design will address present day conditions as well as account for projected increases in frequency of extreme storms and sea-level rise.

Approximately $40,000 is available to support this project. Proposals are due November 13, 2015 at 12 noon. For more information please visit DEC's Hudson River Estuary Program and Sustainable Shorelines web pages. The Request for Applications is available on the website of the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission.
