Get Outdoors & Get Together Day Events POSTPONED Across the State |
|
Out of an abundance of caution and with the input of state public health experts, Get Outdoors & Get Together Day events sponsored by New York State Parks, the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities and the Department of Veterans Services scheduled to happen tomorrow Saturday, June 10, at 23 locations across the state have been POSTPONED due to air quality concerns.
While air quality continues improve across the state, there are still many areas of the state experiencing air quality that is unhealthy for sensitive groups including children, senior citizens, people with underlying health conditions and people with developmental disabilities.
From the outset, the State of New York emphasized that Get Outdoors & Get Together Day events were intended to be fully inclusive events where people of all abilities and from all walks of life could come together, try new activities, and enjoy the magnificent outdoor spaces that New York has to offer. In keeping with the spirit of the event, New York State will hold this event when all people, including those who belong to sensitive groups, can fully participate. A date for the next scheduled Get Outdoors & Get Together Day will be announced at a later time.
