Save the Date: 2022 Training Schedule for those Supporting Willowbrook Class Members
OPWDD will be providing the Overview of Services for Willowbrook Class Members training on three separate dates in 2022.
This training will be offered from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on:
- February 9, 2022;
- June 15, 2022; and
- November 2, 2022
The Overview of Services for Willowbrook Class Members training must be taken by care manager supervisors and care manager’s prior to serving a Class Member on his/her caseload and is highly recommended, by OPWDD, to be taken annually thereafter. In addition, it would be expected that Care Coordination Organization (CCO) Willowbrook Liaisons, OPWDD Regional Office Liaisons, clinical and quality assurance staff, and staff of state and voluntary agencies providing services to Willowbrook class members attend.
The purpose of this training is to provide an overview of the entitlements guaranteed to class members under the Willowbrook Permanent Injunction as well as education and training on the specific responsibilities of care manager supervisors and care managers who provide case management to Willowbrook class members.
Information covered in this training includes active representation, caseload compliance, expectations of case management, incident and residential notifications, Community Placement Procedures and due process, and informed consent. While responsibility for some of these areas may not fall entirely with the care manager, it is important that care managers supporting an individual of the Willowbrook class know and understand all the continuing obligations and entitlements under the Willowbrook Permanent Injunction.
Registration and a full course description are available in the OPWDD Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS).
