Weekend Air Quality
Smoke from ongoing Canadian wildfires continues to impact air quality in our area. Conditions may reach unhealthy levels, especially for sensitive groups, including older adults, children, pregnant people, and individuals with heart or lung conditions.
Residents are encouraged to limit strenuous outdoor activities, take breaks indoors in air-conditioned spaces when possible, and consider wearing a well-fitting mask if spending extended time outside. If you experience symptoms or notice existing conditions worsening, consult your healthcare provider.
Before heading outdoors, check the latest conditions through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s AirNow website. AirNow provides real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) updates, forecasts, and health recommendations to help residents plan their day safely.

A New Vision for Pinebrook Boulevard Begins
The City of New Rochelle is launching the first phase of the Pinebrook Boulevard Complete Streets Project, a major investment in improving safety, accessibility, and sustainability along one of the City's most scenic corridors between Beechmont Drive and Forest Avenue.
The project will introduce New Rochelle's first dedicated on-street bike lanes, improved pedestrian crossings, a new woodland walking trail connected to Beechmont Lake, and green infrastructure features such as bioswales and rain gardens to help manage stormwater runoff.

Tournament Goals!
 The Summer of Soccer Community Co-ed Tournament brought the community together for an evening of friendly competition!
Six teams took to the pitch for exciting matches, with New Rochelle FC & Teachers earning the City Cup championship.
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who played, cheered, and helped make the tournament a success.

Voices of We The People
As part of New Rochelle's America 250 celebration, residents gathered for multilingual readings of the Declaration's preamble, inspiring reflections on liberty and democracy, the NRCA's It Happened Here exhibit, food trucks, and an interactive wish wall. The event honored our nation's history while celebrating the voices and community that make New Rochelle unique.

French Heritage Recognition
The City celebrated French-American Heritage Month by honoring the enduring friendship between New Rochelle and its sister city, La Rochelle, France. The celebration also recognized former City Manager Peter Korn for his years of dedicated service and his French heritage. Guests enjoyed light refreshments while reflecting on the shared history, culture, and lasting connections that continue to strengthen the bond between the two communities.

Ward Acres Barn Revisioning
Big ideas were on the table at the Ward Acres Barn Revisioning Workshop on July 15, where residents, City officials, and project consultants gathered to imagine the future of the historic barn site. Participants explored maps and historic photographs, adding notes and sharing ideas directly on display boards while consultants collected feedback and suggestions. The interactive workshop sparked thoughtful conversations and provided valuable community input to help shape the next chapter of this treasured landmark.

The Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle is kicking off an exciting afternoon of soccer, games, and entertainment with a World Cup Soccer Watch Party on Saturday, July 18 at 3:00 PM.

The City of New Rochelle has expanded its First Time Home-buyer Down Payment Assistance Program (DPAP), and now provides assistance to eligible New Rochelle workers and Business Owners. We are pleased to invite you to join us for a virtual information session tailored for the business community.

Save the Date: Lighted Boat Parade
Celebrate summer on the waterfront at the Lighted Boat Parade on Saturday, July 25, beginning at dusk.
Watch a festive procession of illuminated boats sail through New Rochelle Harbor, with prime viewing from Hudson Park and Neptune Park.

Elite Steppers Summer Step Clinic
The Youth Bureau is inviting students entering 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to step into summer with the Elite Steppers Summer Step Clinic.
The clinic runs July 7 through August 1, with sessions held Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at Downtown Rec (29 Lecount Place, 2nd Floor). The program is open to New Rochelle residents only, and registration is required.
Space is limited, so families are encouraged to register early!

NRCA Presents: It Happened Here: Life in New Rochelle During the American Revolution
Discover New Rochelle's Revolutionary War story through It Happened Here: Life in New Rochelle During the American Revolution, a new exhibit presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts in celebration of America's 250th anniversary.
On display in the Rotunda Gallery at City Hall from July 1 through September 4, the exhibit brings local history to life with rare maps, historical records, eyewitness accounts, and striking contemporary photographs by Adam Pape.

NRCA Presents: Summer Sounds Concert Series
The Summer Sounds Concert Series returns to the historic Emil Paolucci bandshell at Hudson Park from June 24 through August 28.
Produced by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA) in partnership with the City of New Rochelle, this free annual tradition brings top bands and local food trucks right to our waterfront every week.

Namaste' Wednesdays
Find your center this summer with Free Yoga in the Park, returning every Wednesday at 6:00 PM from June 24th through August 26th!
Held at Hudson Park, these community sessions are guided by yogi Liza Tuck from The Self Studio. All sessions are held in proud support of the Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse.

Blood Drive Success—Mark Your Calendar for September!
Thanks to the generosity of our community, 37 lifesaving donations were collected, helping ensure local hospitals have the blood supply they need during one of the most challenging times of the year for donations.
The next opportunity to give is Thursday, September 10, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the City Hall Rotunda, 515 North Avenue. Every donation has the potential to save multiple lives, and appointments are encouraged.

The Youth Bureau is collecting donations for its Citywide Back-to-School Supply Drive to help local students start the school year prepared for success.
Residents are invited to donate new, unopened school supplies through Friday, July 24. Donations can be dropped off at the Youth Bureau (City Hall, Ground Floor, 515 North Ave.) or purchased through the online wish list.

Water Conservation Request
Due to extreme heat and increased water use for irrigation, Veolia is asking customers in the North End of New Rochelle to help reduce peak water demand by following an alternate lawn-watering schedule.

Centre Ave. Bridge Closure
The Centre Avenue Bridge will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic beginning at approximately 9:00 p.m. on June 29 and is expected to reopen no later than September 1, weather permitting.
During construction, overnight lane closures on I-95 may occur to support bridge work, and the shoulders beneath Centre Avenue will be closed for construction equipment.

The City launched a new Neighborhood Association Database to strengthen communication and collaboration between City Hall and local communities.
The database will help the City share neighborhood-specific updates, emergency alerts, public meeting notices and important community information directly with residents and association leaders.

Participatory Budgeting (PB) gives residents a direct voice in how City capital funds are spent. Community members can propose ideas, help shape projects, and vote on improvements that matter most to their neighborhoods.

Hometown Hero Banners
New Rochelle’s Hometown Heroes Banner Program honors local veterans and active-duty service members with personalized banners currently displayed along Main and Huguenot Streets in the East End.
To participate in the Banner program, submit a completed application, a photo of your military hero, and a copy of their DD-214 or discharge papers (if available). Banners are provided free of charge, though donations are welcome. Completed submissions should be mailed or delivered to New Rochelle Post 8 American Legion, Attn: Commander Dennis Starr, 112 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
The submission deadline is August 1, 2026.

13th Annual New Rochelle Street Fair – Join more than 200 vendors on Saturday, September 19 (Rain Date: September 20) for a day of food, shopping, entertainment, and family fun surrounding City Hall. Apply by July 24 to take advantage of discounted Early Bird rates. Regular Deadline: August 10
Teen Fest 2026 is looking for vendors! Calling all teen entrepreneurs, creators, and youth organizations to be part of this exciting event on Saturday, August 1, from 12–5 PM at Hudson Park. Showcase your business, club, or organization while connecting with New Rochelle teens at an event created by teens, for teens. Applications are extended to July 24.
