Celebrating DPW Week
 The City celebrated National Public Works Week, recognizing the dedicated professionals of the Department of Public Works who help keep the community safe, clean, and connected every day. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” highlighted the essential work performed across the department’s many divisions, from sanitation and streets to engineering, forestry, traffic, and public facilities. The week served as an opportunity to thank the hardworking men and women whose behind-the-scenes efforts support the quality of life for residents throughout New Rochelle.
Memorial Day Weekend Kicks Off Summer at New Rochelle Waterfront Parks
As Memorial Day Weekend approaches, our waterfront parks are officially reopening for the season, welcoming residents and visitors back to the shoreline beginning Saturday, May 23.
From May 23 through June 26, waterfront parks will be open on weekends and holidays, including Memorial Day, before transitioning to daily operations beginning June 27 through Labor Day.
Visitors can enjoy Hudson Beach access, outdoor showers, the Hudson Park Café, public restrooms, and staffed parking lots at Hudson Park, Joe Curtis Five Islands Park, and Davenport Park. Free parking is available for Park Pass holders, with daily parking rates for residents and non-residents.

Anderson Plaza Splash Pad Open
The Anderson Plaza Splash Pad is officially open for the season! Bring the family down to enjoy some refreshing water play right in the heart of downtown.
Before you head out, here is a quick guide to keeping the fun safe and clean for everyone:

Hours of Operation: Daily from 11 AM to Dusk.

How to Activate: Simply touch the foot sensor on the ground to get the water flowing!

Keep it Clean: Please note that bathing for personal hygiene, cleaning personal property, and bird feeding are strictly prohibited.

New Rochelle Forward Cohort Graduates
 The New Rochelle Forward program proudly celebrated the graduation of its latest cohort, marking an exciting milestone in its workforce development initiative. Participants successfully completed hands-on training, career readiness instruction, and industry-recognized certifications that prepare them for rewarding employment opportunities connected to ongoing development across the city.
Congratulations to all of the graduates on this outstanding achievement, and best wishes for continued success in their future careers!
Jewish American and Haitian American Heritage Months
 Last week, the City recognized both Jewish American Heritage Month and Haitian American Heritage Month with special celebrations honoring the rich cultures, histories, and lasting contributions these communities have made to our City.
Together, the celebrations reflected New Rochelle’s ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion, and honoring the many communities that help shape the City’s identity.
Down Payment Assistance Program
The City of New Rochelle’s Down Payment Assistance Program (DPAP) may be able to help eligible first-time homebuyers secure grants covering up to 19% of a home’s purchase price.
Informational orientations will be held at City Hall, 515 North Avenue:
- English: Monday, June 1, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers
- Spanish: Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 6:00 PM in Room B1

Library Summer Hours
The Library announced updated summer hours and seasonal holiday closures for both its Main Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library locations. Both libraries will open at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, to accommodate staff training.
Summer closures include Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Labor Day observances, along with seasonal Sunday and Saturday closures at select locations. The Main Library, located at New Rochelle Public Library Main Branch, will remain closed on Sundays from June 7 through August 30, while the Huguenot Children's Library will remain closed on Saturdays from July 4 through September 5 and on Sundays throughout the summer.

Next Stops for the City Council Community Meetings
 Community conversations continue this May as we reconvene neighborhood meetings across the city. Residents in District 3 are invited to join us on May 26 at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle Remington Clubhouse, followed by meetings for Districts 1 and 2 on May 27 at Jefferson Elementary School. Both sessions will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and offer an opportunity to hear updates, share feedback, and connect with neighbors and City leadership.
Summer Sizzle Season is Back!
 From June 6 through August 29, enjoy warm summer nights under the stars at Ruby Dee Park, filled with great music, a vibrant atmosphere, and even better company.

NRCA Presents: The World of Ugo Mochi, "The Poet of Shadows"
The New Rochelle Council on the Arts invites the community to step into The World of Ugo Mochi, a striking new exhibit celebrating the internationally renowned artist known as the “Poet of Shadows.”
On view from April 29 through June 30, the exhibit transforms the Rotunda Gallery at City Hall into an immersive showcase of Mochi’s intricate black-and-white outline art.

Hydrant Flushing
Over the next several weeks, Veolia crews will be flushing fire hydrants and blow offs in New Rochelle. This work will be performed between the hours of 7:30 am and 4 pm. Workers will be carrying company identification cards for your security.

New Rochelle’s summer camp season runs July 6–August 14, Monday through Friday, with fun-filled programs including Ready, Set, Camp!, Camp Joy, and Kiddie Kamp; registration is first-come, first-served while space remains available..

Youth Bureau: Camp N.O.W.
The Youth Bureau’s Camp N.O.W. (No Opportunity Wasted) is a six-week summer program for New Rochelle students graduating 5th–7th grade, running July 6–August 13, Monday–Thursday from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM at New Rochelle High School, with lunch provided and a $125 program fee.
