 2026 Work Plan Unveiled
This week the City Manager presented his 2026 Work Plan, reflecting priorities and projects identified as a part of the annual budget planning process, incorporating City Council initiatives and departmental operational and capital priorities.
Presidents' Day Weekend
In observance of Presidents' Day, City Hall Offices will be closed on Monday, February 16 and DPW will follow a holiday collection schedule:

 Downtown Survey
The City of New Rochelle invites residents, business owners, and visitors to complete a new survey to help improve the downtown experience. Feedback will inform future planning and infrastructure efforts to make Downtown more accessible and user-friendly.
Local Safety Action Plan
The City of New Rochelle is launching a Local Safety Action Plan (LSAP), a citywide effort to reduce serious traffic injuries and make streets safer for everyone, including children walking to school, seniors crossing the street, and people traveling by foot, bike, transit, or car. Day of Service
Join Mayor Ramos-Herbert and HOPE Community Services on Thursday, February 19 for a rewarding volunteer opportunity.
Choose from two shifts — 10 AM–2 PM or 2–4 PM — to help prepare and serve meals for neighbors in need, meet other teens, and earn community service hours.
All teens who complete a shift are invited to a pizza party at City Hall on Friday, February 20 to celebrate your hard work!

NRCA: A Couple of Visions

Pick Up the Poo
New Rochelle City Code (§ 281-4.1) says it’s your responsibility to remove any dog or cat waste from your property, including the area between the sidewalk and the curb.
The Buildings Department enforces this requirement, and violations may result in fines of up to $250 per day.
A quick, daily cleanup before Noon helps keep our streets clean and welcoming for everyone.

Rental Heat Requirement
NY State requires landlords to keep spaces at a minimum of 68°F through May 31st.
If your rental is dipping below that mark, reach out to the New Rochelle Department of Buildings at (914) 654-2035 weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Any heating issues on the weekend can be reported to the Heat Hotline at (914) 654-4809.

Alternate Side Parking Winter Suspension
Alternate side of street parking restrictions are suspended until March 31 on many City streets.

The City's new Vacant Storefront Registry supports the revitalization of New Rochelle's downtown and commercial corridors by improving communication with property owners, enhancing the appearance of vacant spaces, and reducing long-term vacancies. The registry provides the City with up-to-date data on storefront conditions and leasing activity, helping to strengthen the safety, vibrancy, and economic appeal of the city's business districts. All ground-floor, street-facing commercial spaces that remain unoccupied for 90 consecutive days are required to be registered with the City.
Food Scraps Recycling
Compost bin kits are available for $20 at the Public Works office (City Hall, 515 North Ave) and include a 2-gallon countertop bin, a 6-gallon storage bin, and compostable bags.

The 2025–2026 HEAP benefit helps eligible households with heating and cooling costs, including emergency assistance.
