Labor Day Holiday
In observance of Labor Day, Monday, September 1, City offices will be closed. Labor Day also marks the last day Hudson Park Beach and Lincoln Pool will be open for the season.
The Bureau of Sanitation will follow a holiday collection schedule next week. Pickup start time will revert to the normal hour of 7AM. Please note: bulk/trash pickup is only on the first pickup day of a holiday week. Yard Waste Collection that normally occurs on Monday will occur on Friday.

Quaker Ridge Road Presentation and Public Hearing
The City of New Rochelle is making improvements to the full length of Quaker Ridge Road, including lane redesign, paving, and signal updates in accord with Complete Streets design guidelines, focusing on enhanced safety for all users. New bicycle lanes and wider sidewalks on each side will be enhanced by high visibility crosswalks and updated traffic signals to improve safety and support the City’s GreeNR climate goals for transportation mobility.
The City is seeking construction funding from Federal, State, and County partners, including a grant application through the new Westchester County Complete Streets Municipal Assistance Program. A public hearing to present the final project design and the City’s proposed funding application will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 7:00 PM at City Hall in the Council Chamber.
Residents who are unable to attend the public hearing can submit comments to CompleteStreets@newrochelleny.gov through September 18. More information about the project and the grant application, including a contact form to submit comments and ask questions is at engagenr.com/qrrcompletestreets/

Farmers Market Coupons Books
Seniors looking to stretch their food budgets this summer and fall with fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables may be entitled to a Farmers Market Coupon book. The coupon books are available at the Hugh Doyle Senior Center while supplies last to income-qualifying residents and are valid at any participating New York State Farmers Market.

The Mobile NR app, available for iOS and Android, lets users report non-emergency issues and access information about City of New Rochelle happenings. Created with the aim of furthering the City Manager’s Quality of Life Initiative, Mobile NR allows citizens to upload photos, drop a pin on a map, and report an issue, non-emergency service request, or quality-of-life matter.

Vendors Wanted: 2025 Holiday Market

New Rochelle is getting in the Holiday Spirit and pulling out all the stops for all ages with this festive Holiday Market in an indoor charming winter village setting in the heart of the downtown New Rochelle.

2025-2026 School and Library Tax Bill
In January of 2025, the City Council adopted legislation changing the collection months for School and Library taxes from October and April to September and March. The first half of the 2025-2026 School and Library tax bill is now due on or before September 30th. The City's Tax Office has provided notice to all banks that make tax payments on behalf of a resident, via escrow, about this change in collection dates. New assessment dates will begin for the 2026 assessment cycle: December 1 – Taxable status date. Exemption forms due December 1- Valuation date February 1- Tentative assessment roll Third Tuesday in February – Grievance Day April 1- Final assessment roll May 1- Deadline for appeals filed with the County Clerk September 1 – School tax bill first half January 1- City tax bill March 1 - School tax bill second half June 1 – County tax bill

Jazz at Anderson Plaza
Anderson Plaza comes alive every Thursday night with "Jazz under the Stars" free outdoor jazz performances featuring world-class musicians, expanded seating, and convenient access to diverse dining options right in the heart of downtown. The series will continue weekly from 6-8PM through the first week in September.

9/11 Memorial Events
All are welcome to attend and join in these solemn observances of remembrances on Thursday, September 11, 2025 honoring the lives lost and the heroes who responded on that day.

New Rochelle Fire Department Remembrance Ceremony 9:59AM at Fire Station 1, Harrison Street Department members will read the names of the 343 FDNY members killed that day. Ceremony begins at the time the first (South) tower fell.

New Rochelle City Hall Remembrance Ceremony 11:30 AM, City Hall front lawn, 515 North Avenue Featuring members of NRPD and NRFD. In honor of the day, a Garrison flag will be installed between the front pillars on September 10.
Later that evening at 7:30PM, the United Veterans Memorial & Patriotic Association will host the annual Candlelight Vigil at the American Legion Post 8, 112 North Avenue.

Volunteer for 9/11 Day of Service
This meal packing opportunity on Friday, September 5th is in partnership with 9/11Day and Monroe University. Working in teams, volunteers will pack 50,000 meals for the local community that will then be distributed to the local community by Feeding Westchester. Spaces are open for an afternoon shift.

Snapper Fishing Derby
Get ready to reel in some fun at the 22nd annual Kids Snapper Fishing Derby at Hudson Park on Saturday, September 13 from 9AM to noon.
This family-friendly tradition for youth ages 6-16 celebrates the joys of fishing, the beauty of our waterfront, and a little friendly competition—all in one unforgettable day.
All bait and tackle will be supplied but participants must bring their own fishing gear and must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place contestants. The event is presented in honor of founder and marina advocate, the late Robert A. Cerreta, and is sponsored by Friends of New Rochelle Parks.

Coffee with the Mayor
Connect with Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert at a series of casual events at a local shop near you. Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert invites you to join her for coffee and conversation at her monthly series, “Coffee with the Mayor”. These casual gatherings will allow residents to connect with the Mayor over coffee, share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas, and ask questions about City issues. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10 AM at YMCA, 50 Weyman Ave, New Rochelle, NY. More dates and locations throughout the City will be announced in the coming months.

North and Hamilton Avenues surrounding City Hall will be transformed once again into a lively open-air marketplace on Saturday, September 13th from 11AM to 5PM for the 12th Annual New Rochelle Street Fair. This much-anticipated community tradition will feature hundreds of vendors- from local artisans, artists, and crafters to food trucks serving up irresistible bites- alongside live music, family activities and entertainment for all ages.

Get ready to hit the dance floor! The City of New Rochelle Park and Recreation Department is turning back the clock with a 90’s Freestyle & Hip Hop Glow in the Dark Bubble Party on Saturday, September 20th at Hudson Park from 6:30-9PM. The night will celebrate the best beats and rhythms of the 90’s, blending freestyle classics with the golden age of hip hop for the ultimate throwback experience. Guests ages 21 and over will enjoy food and drinks for purchase.

Need Assistance for Housing Disputes and Evictions?
The newly-created Westchester County Office of Housing Counsel (OHC) helps financially eligible tenants have access to resources and legal representation at no cost in eviction and related proceedings. Residents facing eviction, having trouble paying their rent, in a rent dispute with a landlord, facing a loss of essential services like heat and hot water, or are facing other problems, can reach out to the OHC to be connected to legal representation, counseling, financial assistance and other programs, provided through one of nine service providers that the County has contracted with. Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Ban
Friendly reminder: Fall isn't here just yet! The use of gas-powered leaf blowers is prohibited from June 1st though September 30th. Aside from causing noise and air pollution, those using a gas-powered leaf blower in the banned window could face a fine. Anyone who observes the use of a gas-powered leaf blower during the banned window should call the NRPD at 914-654-2300 to report.

Do Trash Night Right
A friendly reminder: there’s such a thing as too big when it comes to garbage containers. City code requires trash cans be no larger than 32 gallons and weigh no more than 75 pounds when filled. And avoid waking up to loose waste scattered on your street by putting smaller bags of trash inside of a container and securely bundling cardboard boxes and cartons. Learn more

Violation of this code section shall be subject to a fine not exceeding $250 or by imprisonment of not more than 15 days, or both.
