NR Forward 2025 cohort launch at Open House & Networking Event
New Rochelle Forward (NR Forward), the City of New Rochelle's staple local and minority-focused vocational training program led in partnership with Soulful Synergy, launched its 2025 workforce development programming at an Open House and Networking event this week.
Designed to build the capacity of individuals to effectively compete for the opportunities created by the unprecedented development boom in the City and beyond, NR Forward connects participants to certification courses, hands-on training, career readiness, case management and job placement services, as well as a network of local developers, contractors, and community leaders.Registration is now open for the next cohort which starts April 14.

Senior women celebrated at "Herstory"
The City of New Rochelle celebrated Women’s History Month and honored its senior residents at its HerStory event on March 20. Over 250 seniors enjoyed a day of activities at the Greentree Country Club including a brunch, music, vendors, a fashion show, flower arranging station, and raffles for gifts and services from local businesses.

LINCing Futures- 3/29 at 1-6PM

New Rochelle is accepting applications for an open positon on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Residents with experience in zoning, planning, and land use are encouraged to apply for this important role.

New Rochelle is accepting applications to fill two vacancies on the Telecommunications and Cable Advisory Committee. Members of our residential and business community with knowledge and/or experience relating to the field of telecommunications are encouraged to apply.

Alternate side parking regulation enforcement resumes April 1

Yard Waste Collection begins April 7
Yard waste is collected by the Bureau of Streets and Highways beginning Monday, April 7, 2025. This recycling service was introduced by the City's Public Works Department to help keep neighborhood yards clean, help reduce the amount of yard waste entering the City's solid waste stream, and help protect the environment.
Place grass clippings, twigs, leaves, and other loose yard waste in open containers or biodegradable bags weighing no more than 75 pounds.

NYPA Energy Education Workshop April 17
Join the New York Power Authority and the City of New Rochelle for a hands-on, no-cost Energy Education Weatherization Workshop! The workshop will provide different ways for you to save money and energy. Take steps to be more energy concious. Those attending will receive a free Weatherization Kit. Earth Month Parks Cleanup April 26-27
Join us on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th for the 9th annual Parks Cleanup weekend. Hosted at 13 parks citywide, volunteers can take part in a diverse array of projects- including trash removal, trail maintenance, and beautification tasks- and make a tangible difference in preparing our parks for the upcoming summer season.

Free smoke alarm installation May 3- sign up today!
The American Red Cross will be installing smoke alarms in New Rochelle on Saturday, May 3 as part of their "Sound the Alarm" initiative. Residents can register for a home fire safety visit and free smoke detector installations at www.soundthealarm.org/mnyn.
While the bulk of the installations will target the May 3 mobilization event, appointments can be arranged for other times as well.

Camp N.O.W. for middle school students
The Youth Bureau offers Camp N.O.W. for students graduating 5th, 6th, or 7th grade. Located at New Rochelle High School. this four-hour camp program meets Monday - Thursday (3 trips on 3 Fridays - Additional fee for trips) and features a variety of sports, passive and active games, the arts, STEAM, and special pre-teen-themed activities.

Work for Parks & Rec this summer!
Applications are now being accepted for New Rochelle Parks and Recreation summer job positions. Lifeguards, camp counselors, and park managers and attendants are just some of the opportunities to be filled.
New Rochelle residency is required except for the Aquatics positions as noted. Parks and Aquatics positions may require evening and/or weekend hours.

Food Scrap Recycling Program
New Rochelle’s Food Scrap Recycling Program removes food scraps from the solid waste stream and offers residents a convenient way to recycle, contributing to a healthier environment. Residents can drop off food scraps at two designated locations:
- Pinebrook Tennis Courts Parking Lot – 1-99 Albert Leonard Place
- Outside D’Onofrio Park – Emmett Terrace
Starter kits and compostable bags are available for purchase at the DPW office in City Hall, 515 North Avenue. The kits are priced at $20.00 and include a 2-gallon countertop bin, a 6-gallon home storage and transportation bin, and a roll of 30 compostable bags (for the countertop bin).

Never miss a trash or recycling collection day again! The City of New Rochelle has launched Westchester County's Recycle Coach app and online tool. Get collection information and reminders, and answers to recycling questions.

Helpsy Textile Recycling offers home pickup
The City of New Rochelle, in collaboration with Westchester County, is proud to announce their partnership with Helpsy to offer a free and easy home pickup clothing and textile recycling service for the local community.
Accepted items include clothing, footwear, accessories, linens, luggage and stuffed animals. VIEW FULL LIST.

Organic Waste Transfer Station permits now on sale
Commercial landscapers can now apply for permits and begin registering their vehicles. The site will open mid-March. The Beechwood Organic Waste Transfer Station is newly constructed and features a truck scale. Landscapers will only be allowed to dump yard waste after applying for and receiving a commercial dump permit from the City.
