Fall Leaf collection underway; yard waste collection ends 10/25
Fall leaves can be placed in biodegradable paper bags or open containers anytime for pickup. Next week is the last week for yard waste collection.

ArtsFest thru Oct. 20
New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA) ArtsFest tradition continues! This weekend filled with visual and performing art draws thousands of people from all over the region to enjoy art exhibits and live performances including art exhibits, open artists’ studios, live music and dance, spoken word, a Makers Market, a classic car show and more.

New downtown retail strategy unveiled
The next phase of City’s historic downtown redevelopment includes the creation of New Rochelle’s Vanguard District, and a broad array of initiatives to promote a lively retail environment with a diverse mix of tenants, including live entertainment, notable eateries and more. And, a Tenant Improvement Program provides retail tenants with an opportunity to access a $2.25M grant program.
New design concept for historic train station
The newly unveiled design and robust vision for a reimagined New Rochelle Transit Center features state-of-the-art technology and equitable design principles to better serve residents and commuters. Led by FXCollaborative, a leading NYC architecture firm committed to building a better world through equitable and sustainable design, the concept repositions the historic center into a modern, pedestrian-oriented, and well-connected facility.

Upcoming workshops for business owners
The City has partnered with WEDC for a series of workshops in October and November on social media marketing, personal branding, and markeing strategy; and MWBE certification for entrepreneurs.
Howl'oween Dog Costume Parade- October 26
Hosted by the Ward Acres Conservancy in partnership with the City of New Rochelle Parks and Rec Department, this inaugural event features a parade, costume contest and dog treat bag. Held at Paws Place Ward Acres Dog Park, for dogs of all sizes and ages. Must be a Paws Place Dog Pass Holder

Early Voting Begins October 26
Early voting for the Federal/ State/ County/ Local Primary and General Election is a nine day period where voters can vote in-person before Election Day in Westchester County. There are two early voting sites in New Rochelle: -City Hall Annex, 90 Beaufort Place -United Methodist Church, 1200 North Ave Click on link below for poll hours. The General Election is Tuesday, November 5.

NRPD launches Special Needs Registry program
The New Rochelle Police Department has launched a new Special Needs Registry, aimed at improving communications and safety for individuals with special needs in our community.This voluntary registry allows families and caregivers to provide valuable information on challenges like mobility, communication, or mental health issues that will be readily available to Police Officers responding to a call for service.

Downtown overnight paving continues Oct 21- 23
Main Street from LecCount Place to Echo Avenue will be milled and paved 10/21-23. All work will take place between 8PM and 6AM. Work is done as conditions permit. More information will be posted on the paving calendar.

Street Tree Inventory underway
Over the next few months, the City’s consultant Arbor Pro will use GPS and arborist expertise to perform mapping and data collection on New Rochelle’s over 20,000 urban street trees, with the ultimate purpose of creating a comprehensive forest management plan.

Youth Council applications now open
New Rochelle youth in grades 8-12 will have the opportunity to earn community service hours, plan and participate in events throughout the City of New Rochelle for teens, and have fun!

Fall Youth Employment
New Rochelle youth and young adults are encouraged to apply for positions through the New Rochelle Youth Bureau’s Fall Employment Programs. Each program operates 20 or 25 hours per week for six weeks during November and December and pays $16.00 per hour. The deadline to apply is October 22nd.
