New Rochelle Downtown BID Restaurant Appreciation Week returns for its second year! This community-focused program is an opportunity for customers to show their love and support for local restaurants while the beloved dining spots can show off their culinary specialties to their customers at the same time.

More than a dozen restaurants are offering $25 and $45 specials for Dine-In or Take-Out.

Watershed update meetings in March, April

Drainage Analysis Study Neighborhood Meetings

At a series of neighborhood meetings in March and April, the City’s consultant Brooker Engineering will give an overview of the process to date for each of the six watersheds. Residents, businesses and property owners are invited to attend the meeting corresponding to their watershed location. Meetings will take place at City Hall, 515 North Avenue, in the Council Chambers at 6PM.

Tax Amnesty Program for struggling homeowners

Adopted by City Council last month, this temporary amnesty program for those who have fallen into foreclosure status would waive City interest and penalties due on unpaid taxes.The City would work with property owners on a payment plan for the outstanding balance to be paid in full by the end of December, 2023.

North Avenue Bridge

North Avenue Bridge Replacement Project 

A three-year project by the New York State Thruway Authority to replace the North Avenue bridge is underway. Bridge traffic has been narrowed to one lane in either direction. Reminder: Burling Lane is closed between North Avenue and May Street and there will be no left turn permitted onto Garden Street from North Avenue southbound. Please observe posted detours and travel carefully in the area.

Summer Youth Employment

Summer Youth Employment appplications open

New Rochelle youth and young adults ages 14-24 are encouraged to apply for summer positions through the New Rochelle Youth Bureau’s Summer Employment Program. Five different programs are offered, each operating 20 or 25 hours per week for six weeks during July and August and paying $15.00 per hour. 

New this year: the "Access Equestrian" Employment Program provides special needs youth with job readiness skills training and actual work experience. 

The deadline to apply is May 12.
