** REMINDER: DPW recycling calendar change**
The calendar mailed to homes in December lists an incorrect rotation of paper and commingled recycling. To remedy the error, here is the updated January schedule. A new calendar is being mailed to homes this week.
-This week is PAPER recycling, and then the alternating schedule with commingled will resume for the rest of the year.
-The Town Planner calendar information is incorrect. The schedule is the REVERSE of what is printed.
You can view the schedule online at www.newrochelleny.com/DPW where you can also register for RecycleRight, and get a customized collection schedule for your address.
North Avenue Bridge Replacement Project begins this week
The New York State Thruway Authority has started a three-year project to replace the North Avenue bridge, which is located above a section of the New England Thruway (I-95). Improvements will include a wider overpass structure, a dedicated left turn lane on North Avenue onto Garden Street and more efficient traffic flow in the area. Work should begin around January 26. The bridge will remain open with one lane in either direction throughout construction. There will be no left turn permitted onto Garden Street from North Avenue southbound. Garden Street will be closed to traffic from North Avenue to May Street. Please observe posted detours and travel carefully in the area.
