DPW calendar snip

-For the next two weeks, commingled recycling will be picked up Citywide. The week of January 16 is a holiday week for the Dr. Martin Luther King observance.

-The alternating schedule will resume on Wednesday, January 25 with paper pickup.

North Avenue Bridge

North Avenue Bridge Replacement Project begins this month

The New York State Thruway Authority has started a three-year project to replace the North Avenue bridge, which is located above a section of the New England Thruway (I-95). Improvements will include a wider overpass structure, a dedicated left turn lane on North Avenue onto Garden Street and more efficient traffic flow in the area. Work should begin around January 23 and the bridge will remain open with one lane in either direction throughout construction.

City of New Rochelle receives $100K NYS Climate Smart Communities Grant

New Rochelle is one of 25 municipalities awarded grants through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Climate Smart Communities Grant program. Announced last month, the over $11.6 million in NYS funding helps municipalities afford projects that will often save taxpayer dollars over the long term while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping communities adapt to the ongoing impacts of climate change, including reducing flood risk, relocating or retrofitting critical infrastructure, and increasing community resilience to extreme weather.
