Holiday collection schedule next week; DPW summer pickup hours continue until Sept. 9
Next week will follow a holiday collection schedule due to Labor Day: Tuesday: Garbage North. Wednesday: Garbage South. Thursday: Garbage & Paper North. Friday: Garbage & Paper South. Please continue to place materials curbside by 6AM until Friday, September 9. Beginning Monday, September 12, pickup time will start at 7AM.
NRPD Back-to-School Traffic Safety PSA

Notice to Westchester Power subcribers
The Westchester Power program electricity service will resume in November, ending the current pause during which customers returned to Con Edison supply. The program rates of 15.128 cents per kWh for 100% NYS renewable supply and 13.364 cents for standard supply will be fixed until meter read dates in November 2024.
The program notification letter will be mailed later this month. Sustainable Westchester will be hosting information sessions about the program and the new contract including rates, eligibility, and more. Check their website for upcoming dates: Sustainable Westchester Events.
Arts contest announced for North Avenue bridge
Graphic illustrators wanted! Contest entries now being accepted for vinyl art illustration to be installed on the “blue wall” on North Avenue near the New Rochelle Train Station. Submissions should depict the City’s vibrant arts scene and also serve as wayfinding to the train station. Applications open until September 28. Learn more www.newrochelleny.com/bluewall

Summer Youth Employment wraps up
This summer, over 250 young residents ages 14-24 took part in the New Rochelle Youth Bureau’s Summer Employment Program, working in recreation, office, maintenance, data entry, food and personal care fields. Four specialized “Learn and Earn” programs gave participants a firsthand look at potential vocations.

Youth Bureau hosts backpack giveaway
Members of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau Board of Commissioners, City administration and staff gave out 600 backpacks with school supplies to children in elementary through high school on Wednesday, August 31. This first annual Back-to-School Bash took place in front of City Hall where families enjoyed music, games, and ice cream from Mister Softee. The event was sponsored in part by Veolia and J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. and supported by summer youth interns who returned to help out.

New coed soccer league begins Sept 7
Adult soccer players: are you looking for a local league to play in weekly? Sign up for the new Animeca Coed League. Adults 18 and older with all skill levels are welcome. Come as an individual and be placed on a team, or bring your team to the league. All games are played at Flowers City Park. League kickoff event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 8pm at Flowers City Park. www.animecasports.com

9/11 Serve + Remember
Iona University will be a major hub for Volunteer New York!'s 12th annual 9/11: Serve + Remember event on Sunday, September 11. Online registration is now open for individuals, families and groups for two 90-minute shifts between 10 AM and 2 PM at Spellman Hall, 715 North Ave.

Input needed for flooding and drainage analysis
Submit your information by Sept. 15
To more fully identify drainage problem locations across the City's six watersheds, the City is soliciting input from property owners who have experienced severe flooding. A fillable form on the City website www.newrochelleny.com/flooding contains fields for uploading photos and videos and noting the locations of problem areas.
