Mobile Shredder 6/4 and 8/13
The Westchester County Mobile Shredder will come to the rear of City Hall on Saturday, June 4 from 10AM to 1PM. Residents can bring up to four file-sized (10”x12”x15”) boxes of confidential papers per household. Read the guidelines.The next shredder date in New Rochelle is Saturday, August 13.

Groundbreaking for Hudson Park Children's Museum, new Wildcliff outdoor events pavillion
The adaptive reuse of an historic waterfront property that was nearly destroyed by fire in 2018, and the start of construction on a community greenhouse project seven years in the making were celebrated together with groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, May 16.

NRPD Memorial and Awards Ceremony
The New Rochelle Police Department held their annual Memorial & Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 17. City officials, law enforcement officials, and families gathered to pay tribute to the NRPD officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, and recognize the accomplishments of department members.
Police Officer of the Year was awareded to Police Officer Jon Bulfamante. Community Service Officer Robert Haracz was honored posthumously as Civilian Employee of the Year.

New DPW Center opens
City and Public Works officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Department of Public Works Center at 25 Industrial Lane on Thursday, May 19. The event coincided with National Public Works Week, a time to recognize the essential services provided by Public Works Departments nationwide. The Public Works Department provides the residents of New Rochelle with essential services that maintain the City's critical infrastructure and safety.

Bayberry Lane named for Ben Ferencz
Longtime New Rochelle resident Benjamin B. Ferencz, the last surviving Nuremberg prosecutor, was honored with a street naming on Thursday, May 19. The ceremony included residents, New Rochelle High School students, community partners, state, county and local officials, and a special virtual appearance by Ben Ferencz.

Micromobility event highlights greeNR transportation
In conjunction with Bike to Work Day May 20, the Department of Development hosted a pop-up expo at the New Rochelle Train Station featuring zero-emissions transportation. The event was coordinated with 511NY Rideshare and included Veo electric scooters, the Circuit shuttle, and Nissan Leaf vehicles.

Doyle Senior Center recognized by RSVP program for longtime support
New Rochelle's Hugh Doyle Senior Center is the longest running partner of Volunterr New York!'s RSVP program- since 1984. Executive Director Phillis Maucieri accepted the "Sustaining Station Agency" award on behalf of the City.

Memorial Day Ceremonies
The Veterans Advisory Committee held ceremonies on Monday, May 30 at Memorial Plaza and Hudson Park, featuring residents James Lasser and James Mecca, former US Army service members and veterans of the Vietnam War, as keynote speakers.

 The Thomas Paine Festival June 16-18 will inaugurate the newly-named Thomas Paine New Rochelle Center, comprising three unique historical sites adjacent on North Avenue: The Thomas Paine Cottage Museum, the Thomas Paine Monument and the Thomas Paine Memorial Building. Festivities include a ribbon-cutting and wreath-laying ceremony at 11AM Saturday, followed by a Colonial Fair.
