With the number of positive cases still exceptionally high in our region, it is critical that we take steps to protect ourselves and those around us, and to prevent our healthcare system from being overwhelmed.
COVID-19 testing
The City continues to advocate for additional testing resources to be brought to our area and will share new information as it becomes available.
Appointments are available next week at the free mass testing sites at SUNY Purchase and the Westchester County Center. For more info on additional COVID-19 testing locations call the New York State COVID-19 Hotline at 1-888-364-3065 or click on the box below.
Starting Jan. 15, at-home over-the-counter test costs covered by insurance plans
Beginning January 15, 2022, individuals with private health insurance coverage or covered by a group health plan who purchase an over-the-counter COVID-19 diagnostic test authorized, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be able to have those test costs covered by their plan or insurance. More information on this federal program is expected soon..
Vaccines and boosters are safe, effective and free
Individuals ages 5 and up are eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine. The federal government is providing the COVID-19 vaccine free of charge to all people living in the United States, regardless of their immigration or health insurance status.
Boosters are recommended after completing a primary COVD-19 vaccination series: Pfizer for ages12 and up, and Moderna or J&J for ages 18 and up.
Transportation assistance to vaccination appointments still available
Ride credits are available for Lyft and Uber. Locally, the Circuit free electric shuttle covers the downtown, North Avenue up to Wykagyl, and portions of Pelham Road and the East and West Ends.

New Rochelle residents will receive a $100 Visa gift card for every 3 residents that they refer who successfully complete their vaccinations or boosters at any New Rochelle location.
