Summer Updates

With vaccination rates rising and with New York State now lifting most COVID restrictions, we can look forward to a summer of recovery, renewal, and fun.

Here are some updates...

--New Rochelle's Hudson Park Beach will open full time starting June 28th.

-With the New York State testing center at Glen Island closing on June 25th,  Westchester County is making plans for reopening the recreational areas.

-While our July 4 fireworks celebration is postponed, mark your calendar for a big display on the Friday of Labor Day weekend, followed by the annual Lighted Boat Parade on Saturday September 4.

Check out our summer programs for youth below and here are some seasonal job opportunities.

And remember: a gas powered-leaf blower ban is in effect until September 30th.

Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital provides touchless sunscreen dispensers at City parks & playgrounds

To kick off a fun and healthier summer, Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital has teamed up with New Rochelle Parks & Recreation to offer free SPF 30 sunscreen through contactless dispensers in parks throughout the city.

A new way to get around 

E-scooters and bikes have officially hit the streets of New Rochelle thanks to the partnership with VeoRide. Download the Veo app and scan the QR code on the equipment to unlock the bike or e-scooter.

Farmers Market opens for the season

The Down to Earth Farmers Market is now open every Friday from 9AM-2PM at Thomas Paine Cottage. You can place online orders through the WhatsGood app or shop in-person.

New Rochelle Pride events

  • 6/22 New Rochelle Pride Day -  LGBTQ Advisory Committee & New Rochelle Pride will host their first annual Pride Day event from 4 - 7pm on the front lawn of City Hall. Narayan Pharmacy will be administering free Pfizer vaccines to anyone over the age of 12!   Learn more
  • 6/23 LGBTQIA+ Virtual Event - New Rochelle Youth Court & New Rochelle Youth Council of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau in Conjunction with Pace University LGBTQIA+ Center will be hosting LGBTQIA+101, a virtual event to bring awareness to our youth regarding LGBTQIA+ issues and visibility. RSVP

The next pop-up event in the downtown will be “Blooming Bubbles” taking place on Saturday, June 26 from 10am to noon at Library Green’s Ruby Dee Park, presented by the NRBID.
