INCIDENT: Missing Child (Case #14-11618)
North Las Vegas, Nevada – Police need the public’s help in locating a 3-year-old North Las Vegas girl.
On Saturday, July 5, 2014, at about 4:40 p.m., the North Las Vegas Police Department received a report that 3-year-old Katies Nevaeh Battle was abducted by her biological mother from her father's apartment in the 2100 block of North Las Vegas Boulevard.
Katies Battle was removed from her parents' custody by Child Protective Services and has been living with a foster family for the last 18 months. With permission from Child Protective Services, Katies' 27-year-old foster mother dropped her off at her biological father's apartment on Friday, July 4th for a scheduled visit. Late Saturday afternoon, the 26-year-old father reported Katies missing. Her biological mother, 35-year-old Shelly Mitchell, allegedly took her from his home during a family gathering which she was reportedly denied access to.
Evidence in the case supports the allegation that Katies is with Shelly Mitchell who does not have custodial rights to the child.
Katies Battle is described as an African-American girl, about 2’0”, 36 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Battle was last seen wearing a green and pink shirt with a flower in the middle and green leggings. See attached photo.
Shelly Mitchell is described as an African-American woman, about 5'5", 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She is known to frequent the henderson area near Green Valley parkway and Sunset Road. See attached photo.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Katies Battle or Shelly Mitchell should call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 633-9111 or Nevada Child Seekers at 702-458-7009.
