Hello neighbors,

If you or someone you know is facing eviction or in need of information relating to housing security, we are partnering with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada to hold a free pop-up clinic at Neighborhood Recreation Center on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Attorneys will be available to provide one-on-one assistance on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring your notice of eviction with you if you have one. Visit www.lacsn.org/clinic for details about other upcoming clinics and eviction prevention tips.

CNLV Spotlight: Delen Goldberg

I am thrilled to announce that our Assistant City Manager Delen Goldberg is a finalist for the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Women of Distinction Award (WODA) in the Government category! Delen is a rising star at the City of North Las Vegas. She has been with the City since 2016, serving as Public Information Officer and Chief of Staff before being promoted to Assistant City Manager in 2020. Shortly after being named Assistant City Manager, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and Delen took a leading role in the City’s response and recovery efforts while also spearheading several City initiatives.

In the past eight months alone, Delen has overseen the founding and subsequent expansion of the nationally-acclaimed Southern Nevada Urban Micro Academy (SNUMA), a first-of-its-kind microschool that has helped bridge the digital divide and reverse the learning loss North Las Vegas children experienced due to the pandemic. SNUMA provides a safe, in-person alternative to distance learning, which has shown unprecedented learning gains in the students who have enrolled at SNUMA since the fall 2020 semester.

As Assistant City Manager, Delen also plays a key role in crafting City policies, including a restorative justice program to complement the recent reopening of the Community Correctional Center. Delen oversees multiple departments with several hundred employees including Economic Development, Utilities, Government Affairs, Communications, and Human Resources, ensuring these departments provide top level service to constituents. The Information Technology department she oversees has been nominated for Top Tech awards several years running.

In North Las Vegas, we strive to be efficient, friendly and innovative for our residents and businesses. Delen Goldberg is the personification of those characteristics, and so many more.

Advocating for North Las Vegas

I had the pleasure of being back in Washington, D.C. last week with City Manager Ryann Juden and Director of Government Affairs and Economic Development Jared Luke to advocate for North Las Vegas as part of the Vegas Chamber and Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance annual Washington D.C. trip. We had a very productive trip with some great meetings with our lawmakers on Capitol Hill and they are supportive of our continued efforts to diversify our economy and bring more jobs and opportunities to North Las Vegas!
