Hello neighbors,

Have you received your COVID-19 vaccine yet? The Nevada State Immunization Program and the Board of Pharmacy have coordinated with various pharmacies and other locations to receive vaccine allocation to vaccinate Nevadans. Selected Walmarts, Sam's Clubs, CVS, Albertsons, Vons, Walgreens, Smith’s, Safeway and Raley’s stores, along with some local retailers, some police and fire stations, and various other community sites are receiving doses to vaccinate eligible Nevadans.

This is in addition to the regular vaccination sites, which includes our own site in North Las Vegas. Please be aware, we will be moving our vaccination site from Canyon Springs High School to CSN North Las Vegas Campus starting Monday, March 22. This site is available by appointment only. On Monday, the State also announced that those 16 and over with underlying conditions will be eligible to get vaccinated through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Vaccinations will open up to the general population for those 16 and older starting April 5.

The City is currently providing vaccinations for those who are 65 and older, healthcare workers, public safety and security workers, frontline community support and frontline supply chain and logistics.

Visit vax4nv.nv.gov/patient/s/ to schedule your appointment today! Appointments for vaccination will be open when doses are available, please keep checking back for open appointments. If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance, so that someone else may sign up for that spot.

Pharmacies are another option, and are providing vaccinations for the following groups: 55+ with underlying health conditions, individuals with disabilities, individuals experiencing homelessness, healthcare workers, K-12 education and childcare, Nevada System of Higher Education and grocery store employees.

Breaking Down Barriers: Women in Law Enforcement

In recent decades, women have become a larger part of American law enforcement. But there is still a long way to go, considering that women represent only 13 percent of police officers across the country.

In honor of Women’s History Month, the Mob Museum is hosting a panel discussion on Saturday, March 27 featuring North Las Vegas Police Chief Pamela Ojeda and other women working in local law enforcement. The discussion will be centered on the qualities they bring to the job and the challenges they face.

The program will take place in The Mob Museum’s Historic Courtroom. Reservations are not needed to join this program’s livestream. For tickets, visit https://themobmuseum.org/events-posts/breaking-down-barriers-women-in-law-enforcement/.
