City Hall/Las Vegas Civic Center Employee Parking Update
Please Take The Employee Parking Survey!
City staff may immediately begin parking city-owned vehicles on the top floor of the 500 S. Main St. Parking Garage. If the top floor is full, then move down one floor.
With leasing of the Las Vegas Civic Center property finishing up, there may be a future opportunity for some city employee parking in the 500 S. Main St. Parking Garage. While most city employees would continue to use the City Parkway Garage (west of the railroad tracks), there may be a limited number of spaces in the 500 S. Main St. garage made available in 2027. More information is needed from city employees.
Please take the three-question employee parking survey by clicking the blue button below. Your answers will help to determine how the city moves forward with employee parking in the 500 S. Main St. garage.

City Volunteers Make A Difference Across Our Community
City volunteers spent the past weekend caring for our parks and supporting our neighbors! At Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, volunteers removed discarded fishing line and micro trash from around the lakes. These small but important efforts help protect wildlife and keep our natural spaces safe and welcoming for everyone.
Volunteers also supported The Just One Project Pop Up & Give event, unloading food pallets and distributing food to drive-through and walk-up community members. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to help care for our community!
To join an upcoming volunteer event, please visit CLV Volunteers Registration; friends and family are always welcome to join in.
The Just One Project volunteers included Kimberly Alvarez-Vazquez, Zack Beasley, Rhonda Knightly, David Balberdi, Yolanda Paloma, Tepa Parnishsuko and guests.
Neighborhood Services Manager Lindy Cooksey (center) helped recognize Olga Flowers (left) and Brandy Gulley (right) for achieving their Green Belt certification.
Congratulations On SmartLab Green Belt Certification
Congratulations to two Neighborhood Services staff Brandy Gulley and Olga Flowers on earning their Green Belt certification! They identified that it took significantly longer to enroll Spanish-speaking applicants into the Mommy Mentor program than it did for English-speaking applicants. Brandy would have to coordinate back and forth with Olga to ensure proper translation when communicating with Spanish speakers, leading to many hours spent in meetings and drafting emails and extended wait times. To address this, Olga created a Spanish response template for Brandy to use so she could immediately respond to Spanish-speaking applicants. This improvement saves approximately 260 staff labor hours per year, reduces customer wait time by 60%, and creates a more equitable process that allows all applicants to be enrolled within three days! Cheers for Brandy and Olga!

Conversations That Count: Closing the Feedback Loop
What if we stopped thinking of feedback as criticism and started seeing it as an opportunity to learn and build a culture of honesty, growth and coachability?
Feedback is one of the most powerful tools we have for building trust, strengthening relationships and improving performance. Workplace studies regularly report that employees want more feedback from their managers.
|
Yet, for many of us, giving feedback is scary and uncomfortable, and receiving it can feel even worse. Too often, we avoid difficult conversations, become defensive or miss opportunities to learn from others.
"Conversations That Count: Closing the Feedback Loop" is a class that challenges participants to rethink how they approach feedback, transforming it from something we fear or avoid into something we value, welcome and actively seek.
This engaging, interactive class explores a simple but powerful principle: Feedback isn't something we do to people; it's something we exchange with people to help one another succeed.
Participants will discover that effective feedback requires shared responsibility. Giving feedback takes honesty, kindness, courage and clarity. Receiving it can be equally challenging; it requires curiosity, humility, self-awareness and a willingness to grow. Both are essential to creating a workplace where people feel respected, heard, supported and empowered to succeed.
Through practical workplace examples, facilitated discussions, personal reflection, and real-world conversation practice, participants will learn to:
- Plan and prepare for more effective conversations.
- Approach conversations with curiosity and assume positive intent.
- Balance kindness with honesty, even when conversations are difficult.
- Recognize the emotions, assumptions and behaviors that interfere with feedback.
- Listen without defensiveness and remain coachable, regardless of experience or position.
- Turn feedback into meaningful action and continued growth.
Participants will leave with practical tools and a personal commitment to one conversation they need to have and one way they can become more coachable.
Because feedback doesn't end when it's delivered. The loop closes when feedback is heard, understood and turned into meaningful action.
Great conversations build trust. Honest feedback inspires growth. And staying coachable makes us all better.
Enroll in ORACLE with your supervisor's permission.
"Conversations that Count – Closing the Feedback Loop" Monday, Nov. 23, 1-3 p.m. in City Hall Training Room 1.
