Building Community to Make Life Better
Living Our Mission Through Connection & Collaboration
At the city of Las Vegas, our mission is more than a statement — it is the foundation of everything we do: Building community to make life better. This purpose guides how we serve our residents, how we partner with local organizations and how we support one another as employees. Building community begins internally, with a

shared commitment to collaboration, compassion and meaningful impact. When we work together with intention, we strengthen our ability to uplift the broader community we serve.
One of the most powerful expressions of this mission is our dedication to increasing access to essential resources. By bringing services, providers and information directly to the community, we remove barriers and create opportunities for individuals and families to get the support they need to thrive.
The upcoming Fourth Annual Community Resource Fair, to be held Thursday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Las Vegas Civic Center Outdoor Plaza, is a direct reflection of that commitment. This free event, organized by our Las Vegas Municipal Court, brings together dental services, managed care organizations, housing information, substance use prevention and treatment providers, basic needs support, social services and employment assistance — all in one accessible location. Open to Municipal Court participants and the community at large, the Resource Fair gives residents a welcoming space to learn, connect and benefit from the expertise of participating vendors.
Events like the Resource Fair are possible because of the strength of our internal community. City teams across departments collaborate to bring these initiatives to life, modeling the same unity and support we seek to build throughout the city.
That spirit of shared purpose will continue early next year at the Employee Values Conference, taking place Feb. 23-24, 2027. Save the date, so as we can come together to explore how our mission — building community to make life better — and how it shapes our workplace culture, inspires our service and drives the activities, speakers and vendors featured throughout the conference. This event is designed for all employees, reinforcing that building community starts with us.
Whether through citywide events like the resource fair or internal gatherings like the Employee Values Conference, we continue to demonstrate that when we come together, we create a stronger, more connected Las Vegas — one that truly makes life better.
