Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Leadership Conference Begins With Free Movie Screening For The Public

Screening Set For 5 P.M. Friday, Oct. 16

 

    The city of Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, in partnership with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, will welcome Coach Ken Carter for a special movie screening and conversation Friday, Oct. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.

 

    Carter is a nationally recognized educator and mentor, and is the inspiration behind the film “Coach Carter.” The event is free and open to all. Following the screening, Carter will engage in a conversation centered on leadership, discipline, accountability and choices.

 

    Registration is now open for the free annual Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance Leadership Conference for young men, scheduled Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held at Junior Achievement of Nevada at 4440 E. Tropicana Ave.

 

    The conference is open to male teens and registration is available online. Free transportation is available for registered participants. Youth with questions can reach out to Marcus Sherfield at msherfield@lasvegasnevada.gov.

 

    The city of Las Vegas works with community partners to improve the outcomes for boys and young men through the Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Initiative.

 

    The Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance is a collaborative effort that works to engage the community, promote optimal educational outcomes and improve law enforcement systems.
