Fourth Annual Parks For Pollinators Bioblitz

Join the city of Las Vegas for the Fourth Annual Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz, to be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hay Barn at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road.
The Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz is a national campaign sponsored by the National Recreation and Park Association and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation. This September, parks throughout the country will be participating in a fun challenge to see how many pollinator species can be documented throughout the month.
It is easy for you to participate, too! Simply join our project page, make observations on your own, and upload using the iNaturalist app. With the iNaturalist app, the online community will help identify the species of plant, animal or insect you've observed. By reviewing other observations, you can help make our data "research grade"!
Our main event with exhibitors and STEM activities will be held Sept. 12, but you can participate by exploring the nature and wildlife at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs all year long!

How to participate:
- Download the iNaturalist app and create your profile.
- Join the city of Las Vegas Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz project page on iNaturalist: Parks for Pollinators 2026: City of Las Vegas BioBlitz · iNaturalist
- Visit Floyd Lamb Park on Sept. 12 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and check in at our Base Camp at the Hay Barn and Lakeside Courtyard Gazebo.
- Participate in BioBlitz Bingo, the plant/seed swap, and other games for prizes.
- Participate in STEAM activities and visit our food trucks!
- Engage with our community partners on site, such as the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, Red Rock Audubon Society, Nevada Division of Forestry, Nevada Department of Wildlife, and the Xerces Society of Invertebrate Conservation.
- Observe and take photos of the pollinators, plants and other wildlife you find the entire month of September.
- Upload your observations to the city of Las Vegas project page in iNaturalist.
- Review the observations of others on our project page to make them “Research Grade” material."

A fusion of words, wit and music!
This dynamic evening of poetry, comedy and music brings together some of the most celebrated voices in contemporary spoken word and performance. Featuring internationally acclaimed poet Rudy Francisco and award-winning poet, scholar and performer Javon Johnson, the show offers an unforgettable night of language, laughter, vulnerability and cultural reflection.
Hosted by Las Vegas-born comedian Shanna Christmas, whose sharp and charismatic comedic style brings warmth, edge and immediacy to the stage, the evening moves between humor, music and the emotional force of live poetry. DJ Kelly J will set the tone throughout the night, creating a vibrant sonic atmosphere from the moment audiences enter the space through the final applause.
Together, Francisco and Johnson represent two of the most influential voices in slam and spoken-word poetry. Francisco’s work is known for its emotional precision, accessibility and meditations on love, healing, masculinity and mental health. Johnson’s work sits at the intersection of Blackness, performance studies and spoken-word culture, blending intellectual rigor with powerful storytelling and embodied performance.
This event is designed as more than a poetry reading. It is a full evening of performance — part literary gathering, part comedy show, part communal celebration — bringing audiences into a shared space of joy, reflection, humor and testimony.
