My fellow city employees –
As many of you are aware, Friday morning we had a serious incident involving two employees in the public works department. This incident resulted in the death of one of our employees, Joey McLean. Joey had been employed as a maintenance worker in the public works department since 2018.
Please keep Joey’s family, friends and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time.
I also want to share with you all that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has booked 31-year-old Brysen Kim into Clark County Detention Center as a result of their investigation. He has been employed with the city as a maintenance worker since January 2025.
During this difficult time, please know that resources are available to you as employees. If you need additional support, please use it. Resources available are outlined below.
There is no shame in seeking support. I’ve encouraged the city’s leadership team to make sure employees can access these resources. Please know, these are free and confidential resources for you as employees.
