Las Vegas Celebrates Fourth Of July At Free ‘Blast Off In The Basin’ Event
Basin & Beyond: America 250 Includes Additional Viewing Locations
City of Las Vegas residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a free Fourth of July celebration of freedom and independence at Buckskin Basin Park, located at 7350 Buckskin Ave. Mayor Shelley Berkley and Councilwomen Francis Allen-Palenske and Nancy Brune are scheduled to attend the event.
The “Blast Off In The Basin” fun begins at 7 p.m. and this year’s event celebrates the country’s 250th birthday. Bring the family to enjoy live DJ music, as well as refreshments available for purchase from food trucks.
The aerial display begins at 9:15 p.m. and includes fireworks and more. The show is scheduled to be 12 minutes long and will include coordinated use of fireworks and drones. Bring low-back chairs, blankets and plenty of water to be more comfortable for the evening. Tune into Sunny 106.5 FM radio to hear a patriotic music playlist during the fireworks show.
Wayne Bunker Family Park at 7351 W. Alexander Road offers an additional viewing area for the aerial display. Parking will be available on the eastbound lane of Alexander Road, in the parking lots of the parks, as well as at Word of Life Christian Center at 3520 N. Buffalo Drive (two blocks away). Wheelchair accessible parking is available on Buckskin Avenue and a strollers/chairs/coolers drop-off spot will be on Tenaya Way.
The city also has added two additional firework viewing areas at Children’s Memorial Park, 6601 W. Gowan Road, and at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, 7353 Eugene Ave. These locations also will feature trivia, music, prizes and refreshments available for purchase from food trucks.
