The Higher Ground, Onward and Upward Spring Concert Series is a celebration of artistry, ambition and the boundless power of dance.
Presented in collaboration with the Live Arts Institute, The Ailey School - Ailey Student Performance Group, the School of Nevada Ballet Theatre, and NBT II, this electrifying showcase brings together some of the most compelling emerging and established voices in dance today. Under the direction of Live Arts Institute Artistic Director Avree Walker, the stage ignites with bold storytelling, breathtaking athleticism, and soul-stirring expression.
Experience an unforgettable lineup of works by legendary and contemporary choreographers including Alvin Ailey, Tommie-Waheed Evans, Ronald K. Brown, Jeneane Huggins, Ethan Colangelo, Don Bellamy, Chalvar Monteiro, Avree Walker, Jason Parsons, Elise Porter, Freddie Moore, and a powerful collaborative premiere by Justus Whitfield.
From deeply moving contemporary pieces to high-energy, boundary-pushing performances, every work invites you to feel more, see more and connect more. This is where the next generation of dance meets timeless excellence -- live, raw and exhilarating.

About The Fallout Fringe Festival: Las Vegas’ largest alternative performing arts festival will be hosting a month's worth of exciting new acts from local artists and performers from around the country. Prepare for a night of storytelling that follows the paths we’ve left behind—and the stories that refuse to be erased.

This exhibit provides an opportunity for the residents and visitors of Las Vegas to view selected works from the 2026 Nevada Arts Council Visual Arts Fellows. This traveling exhibition, curated by the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Services Program, features the 2026 Visual Arts fellows: Frances Melhop of Lake Tahoe, Jung Min of Las Vegas, Krystal Ramirez of Las Vegas, Linda Alterwitz of Las Vegas, Lolita Develay of Las Vegas, and Peter Wittenberger of Reno.
The prestigious Nevada Arts Council Fellowship Award provides meaningful financial support and enhanced public recognition to exceptional Nevada artists, fostering their continued pursuit of artistic excellence and creativity.
The exhibit is part of the Nevada Touring Initiative Traveling Exhibition Program, which delivers high-quality visual arts exhibits to communities throughout the state. It is funded by the State of Nevada and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Nevada Arts Council is a division of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.

In celebration of Older Americans Month May 2026, the city of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Arts Commission are sponsoring the annual fine arts competition, “Celebrating Life!,” to recognize the talents of Southern Nevada artists ages 50 and better. This is the 26th year for this popular art competition for seniors.
A “meet-the-artists” reception and awards ceremony open to the public will be held Friday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. This year’s guest juror, Lolita Develay, selected the artwork for the final exhibition, which will run from May 29 through Sept. 10, 2026.
