Sheep Mountain Parkway North To Kyle Canyon Road To Open
Project Included Repaving And Extension Of Existing Trail
A ribbon-cutting event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 11, for a new two-lane roadway extension of Sheep Mountain Parkway north from Iron Mountain Road to Kyle Canyon Road in northwest Las Vegas. Ward 6 Councilwoman Nancy Brune will officially open the project that began in March with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, on Sheep Mountain Parkway south of Kyle Canyon Road. Media should enter Sheep Mountain Parkway from Kyle Canyon Road and head south.
The project resulted in 1,800-linear-feet of new two-lane roadway and included repaving of Kyle Canyon Road from Rufus Road to Alpine Ridge Way. Intersections at Kyle Canyon and Iron Mountain roads with Sheep Mountain Parkway were improved, and the existing trail along Sheep Mountain Parkway was extended to Kyle Canyon Road.
The project was budgeted at $7.7 million, with funds provided by the city of Las Vegas. The contractor was Las Vegas Paving Corporation, and the design consultant was Westwood Professional Services Inc.
