Las Vegas City Council Appoints Interim Municipal Court Judge

Judge Will Serve In Department 2

 

    At Wednesday’s Las Vegas City Council meeting, the City Council appointed Peter Bellon to serve as an interim Municipal Court Judge. Bellon, a longtime Las Vegas attorney who served in Municipal Court as a public attorney for more than 20 years, will serve as a caretaker judge until a new judge is elected during the 2026 election cycle.

 

    Bellon is set to be sworn in as a judge today at noon at Municipal Court, 100 E. Clark Ave. Judge Bellon will take over the Department 2 bench for Judge Susan Roger, who retired on Nov. 4, 2025.

 

    Judge Bellon is a graduate of UNLV with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and he graduated from the St. John’s School of Law. He was awarded a Juris Doctorate from St. John’s in 1992. Judge Bellon has practiced primarily in criminal and family law in his more than 30 years as a practicing attorney

 

    He has been a member of the Nevada State Bar and Clark County Bar Association since 1992. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps receiving an honorable discharge with a rank of sergeant in 1980.
