Las Vegas City Council Ratifies New Human Resources Director
Longtime Las Vegan Has Been With The City For 20 Years
At today’s Las Vegas City Council meeting, the City Council unanimously ratified Sue Brown to serve as the city’s next Human Resources director. Brown was previously the department’s deputy director. She was selected for the position by City Manager Mike Janssen, pending council ratification.
Brown will take over in January for the retiring Vince Zamora, who has served as the city’s Human Resources director since 2020. Brown will be responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources department, as well as working closely with city leadership on collective bargaining negotiations and executive recruitment.
Brown joined the city in 2005 as a Human Resources technician. In 2008 she was promoted to Human Resources analyst before becoming an administrative officer in 2017. In February 2021, Brown was promoted to deputy director of Human Resources.
Brown is a graduate of UNLV with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration. She lives in Las Vegas with her husband and three children.
